It has been a beautiful few days in Placitas. The rains have finally come, and the fresh air on early morning walks feels great! The moisture is helping the native grasses struggle to come back from the overgrazing by feral horses over the past few years. As I was standing by a field in Cedar Creek yesterday, I was reminded of a couple photos taken from that spot which show the impact from unrestricted livestock access to our lands. This is what it has done to someone’s backyard.
But it promises to be a fantastic weekend. I’m heading out to the Placitas Open Space for some birding and photography. Hope you have a chance to enjoy our outdoors, too.
